what is argumentative text? 

Argumentative text is a type of text that aims to convince readers or listeners by expressing certain opinions or arguments.

The main purpose of argumentative text is to persuade, convince or change the reader's or listener's view of a particular problem or topic.

Argumentative text usually contains strong opinions or arguments and is supported by relevant evidence or facts.

A. Social Function

  What is Argumentative for?; An Argumentative text uses evidence and facts to prove whether or not a thesis is true, so two sides of an issues are presented in it. This text covers the most important arguments for and against.

Argumentative text has 2 types of Opinions, namely Pro-Contra and Contra. Pro-Contra to strengthen or support the main issue or problem being discussed. And Contra used to weaken or oppose the main issue in the text.

B. Teks strukture :
1. Thesis

The thesis is the initial part of the argumentative text. Its function is to introduce the topic to be discussed. Usually, the introduction contains background about the topic, a brief description of the problem, and a statement of the author's main opinion or argument (thesis statement).

2. Argumentation

The body of argumentative text consists of several paragraphs that develop the author's argument. Each paragraph usually contains one idea or sub-argument that supports the thesis statement. Includes evidence, data, facts, examples, or logical reasons to strengthen the argument.

3. Conclusion

The conclusion is the final part of an argumentative text that summarizes the main argument and presents an overall summary. The purpose of the conclusion is to give the reader a final impression and strengthen the author's argument.

C. Language Features and Language

 Component 
 It contains the author's thought, ideas, views, and opinions
It is accompanied by logical reasons, facts or events that occurred, as well as information form several sources such as data graphic pictures, and other things that can be accept by reason.

It is presented using analysis and analogy 
It is usually written as anon-fiction text and ends with a conclusion.

Logical connectives are words or symbols which are used to form a complex sentence from two simple sentences by connecting them. Some logical connectives are if, only if, when, whenever, unless.

Abstract nouns refer to ideas, feelings, emotions states, actions, concepts, experiences, and qualities that we cannot see, taste, touch, smell, or hear. For example: science, chemistry, geography, etc.

A technical term is a word, phase, or acronym that professionals or experts use in their specific field to help save time when communicating with other knowledgeable professionals.
